UniversITy Service Catalogue receives an upgrade

Published on: August 13, 2025

The recently refreshed IT@UofT Strategic Plan identifies “shared infrastructure” as a key objective, emphasizing the importance of standardized campus-core infrastructure and consistent user experience. In a recent advancement towards this objective, Information Technology Services completed a full review and update of the UniversITy Service Catalogue (USC), an online directory where University of Toronto staff, faculty and students can find IT programs and services provided by ITS.

The in-depth update was performed by verifying and revising existing content, adding missing services and clearly assigning ownership to ensure ongoing maintenance. These improvements are helping to boost transparency, ensure up-to-date information and streamline support.

Before this refresh, the catalogue held over 190 articles — many of which were outdated or incomplete. Now, users can more easily search for and access the most relevant, accurate information.

Behind the scenes, the new structure introduces accountability and prepares the team for a future where all services are managed directly through ServiceNow. This is a key step in ITS’s long-term vision for modernizing U of T’s IT service delivery, aligning with target initiatives mentioned in the IT@UofT Strategic Plan.

“We are excited to provide a well-maintained catalogue that users can rely on, with all services accounted for, verified by the right people and updated regularly,” explains Brian Whelan, IT service management coordinator, EASI. “The success of this upgrade contributes to our goals around improving user experience, enabling operational excellence and enhancing digital service delivery across the university.”
