Wireless certificate update

Information Technology Services will perform a wireless certificate update on Monday, Aug. 24 at 8 a.m. This update is performed to ensure the University of Toronto’s tri-campus wireless system remains as secure as possible. The change is expected to be completed before 8:30 a.m. on the same day.
Historically, the wireless authentication server’s SSL certificate has been updated annually. Beginning in 2026, updates will occur more frequently to align with updated certificate renewal policies based on the requirements of root-level certificate authorities. The next updates are scheduled for:
- Aug. 24, 2026
- Feb. 16, 2027
- Aug. 23, 2027
After Aug. 23, 2027, certificate updates will occur more frequently to align with certificate renewal requirements.
What do I need to do?
Once the update is complete, wireless users may be prompted to accept or verify the new security certificate the first time they attempt to reconnect to the UofT or eduroam networks. Once accepted, the wireless device will save the setting and connect automatically thereafter.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 17 at 10:00 a.m., the new certificate will be available for download from the Campus Wireless website. Please refer to the ‘Additional Resources > Certificates’ section.

The “Not Valid Before” and “Not Valid After” fields show the certificate’s creation and expiry dates. These dates will change to reflect the updated certificate validity period.
If you encounter any issues, you can “forget” the wireless network profile and set up the connection again.
